Derrick E. Smith brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the healthcare and operations sectors. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a focus on Physician Assistant Studies from Mercy University, laying a strong foundation in clinical and patient-centered care. Building on this, he pursued a Master of Business Administration in Managerial Analytics, combining his clinical knowledge with advanced business acumen to drive strategic decision-making.
Throughout his career, Derrick has held pivotal roles in both regional organizations and Fortune 500 companies, consistently delivering results through innovative leadership and operational excellence. As the Chief Operating Officer of Park Avenue Medicine and Surgery, he played a critical role in implementing a utilization-forward approach, ensuring patients had improved access to high-quality healthcare services. His efforts not only enhanced patient care but also optimized operational efficiency, contributing to the organization’s success.
Motivated by a vision to make a broader impact on the healthcare industry, Derrick founded Smith Healthcare Solutions. She graduated in 2017 from LIU – Brooklyn with her Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and has since built an impressive career in the field of pharmacy. Currently, she serves as the Chief Pharmacy Officer at Smith Healthcare Solutions, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping healthcare strategies. In addition to this leadership position, she is the Lead Pharmacist at Bay Health Pharmacy and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at her alma mater, LIU – Brooklyn.
Her multifaceted career showcases her passion for advancing pharmacy practice, mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals, and ensuring high-quality care for the communities she serves.
